I did not have a media kit. What I had was a folder called final_FINAL_v3 and a very strong feeling that I was about to be found out. So I did what a lot of pet creators do: I opened Canva, picked the prettiest template, and spent most of a Saturday making eight gorgeous pages while Nicole and Nora slept on my feet in a single unmoving loaf.

I sent it. Then nothing. Not a no. Just the particular silence that makes you refresh your inbox like it owes you money.

It took me a long time and several more silences to understand what actually happened. My media kit was not too ugly. It was not too small. It was answering questions nobody at that company had asked.

Nobody reads your media kit. They scan it and defend it.

Here is the thing I wish someone had told me before that Saturday.

The person opening your pet media kit is not a fan. They are usually a junior marketing coordinator with forty other kits open, a spreadsheet, and a boss who is going to ask them one question: why her?

They are not evaluating your aesthetic. They are gathering ammunition. Everything on your kit is either a bullet they can use in that conversation, or it is furniture.

Which reframes the whole document. A media kit is not a portfolio. A media kit is a one-page argument that a stranger can repeat out loud to their boss without you in the room.

Once I understood that, my eight beautiful pages became obviously, painfully wrong. Page one was a photo of my dogs. Page two was our “story.” Page three was a follower count. None of those are arguments. They are furniture.

The three questions your kit has to answer

Every brand conversation I have been in since, paid or not, has come down to the same three questions. They are never asked directly. They are always being answered.

1. Who do you actually reach? Not how many. Who. “12k followers” is a number. “Mostly women 25 to 40 in US cities who own a small dog and buy for it like it’s a toddler” is a person their product is for. One of those goes in a spreadsheet. The other one gets repeated in a meeting.

2. Does anything you say move them? Reach is a claim. Engagement is evidence. A brand has been burned before by a big account that sold nothing, and they are quietly terrified of it happening again on their budget.

3. Are you going to be easy? This one is invisible and it decides more than the other two. Every brand has worked with a creator who missed the deadline, ignored the brief, forgot the disclosure, and made them look bad internally. Your kit is their first read on whether you are that person.

Here is your free takeaway, and it is the one that changed things for me: go look at your current media kit and ask which of those three questions each block answers. Anything that answers none of them is decoration. On my eight-pager, six pages were decoration. Once I cut them, the whole thing fit on one page, and that is when it started working.

The one-page rule is not about attention spans. It is about forcing you to choose. A page you cannot cut is a page you have not thought about.

Knowing the three questions is the easy part. Actually building the page is where everyone stalls, because the internet will tell you to make it pretty and will not tell you what goes in which block, or in what order.

So below, I’m doing a full teardown of my own one-page kit, block by block, in the exact order a brand reads it.

The teardown: my one-page kit, block by block

This is the actual structure I use. Six blocks, top to bottom, in the order a brand’s eye travels. Nothing else on the page.

Block 1. The identity line (not your name)

What it is: One sentence at the very top. Not a logo, not a headshot of the dogs, not “Welcome to Nicole & Nora!”

Why it works: It is the sentence the coordinator copies into their spreadsheet. If you don’t write it, they write it for you, and theirs will be worse.

The honest catch: It has to describe the humans you reach, not the dogs you own. This is the most common mistake I see in pet media kits, and I made it for months. Brands do not sell to dachshunds. Dachshunds have terrible credit.

What I actually did: I rewrote mine from “Nicole & Nora are two mini dachshunds in NYC” to a line that names the audience and what I do for them. Same structure as the one-line fix post. Same argument, top of the page.

Block 2. The numbers that prove it

What it is: Your reach, per platform, with an engagement figure sitting right next to each one.

Why it works: A follower count alone invites the question “yes, but do they care?” A follower count with an engagement rate next to it answers that question before it gets asked. You are not showing off. You are closing a loop.

The honest catch: here is the contrarian bit. If your engagement is good, leading with follower count actively hurts you. Every guide says “lead with your biggest number.” I think that’s backwards for small accounts. A 12k account with strong saves is a better buy than a 200k account with dead comments, and the only way a brand learns that is if you put the two numbers side by side. Lead with the ratio, not the raw count. Big numbers make you comparable to people who will beat you. Good ratios make you interesting.

The number most creators leave out: saves and shares. Likes are a mood. Comments are a conversation. Saves and shares are purchase intent. Someone thought “I need to remember this” or “my sister needs this.” That’s the closest thing on a social platform to raising a hand in a shop. Almost nobody puts it on their kit, which means putting it on yours makes you look like you know something.

What I’d do: Three rows, one per platform. Followers, engagement rate, saves-plus-shares on a recent typical post. Not your best post ever. A typical one. Which brings me to the mistake.

Block 3. Proof a stranger can check

What it is: Two screenshots and one link. That’s the whole block.

Why it works: Anything you assert, they discount. Anything they can verify, they believe.

My honest mistake, and what it cost: on that first eight-page kit, I used my single best-performing post as the example. Of course I did. It was the one I was proud of. A brand replied asking what our “typical” numbers looked like, and I had to send a much smaller figure in a follow-up email, which made the first number look like a sales trick instead of a good day. That deal went nowhere. But the lost fee was not the real cost: I taught a brand to distrust my numbers in the first ten minutes.

The exact fix: I now show a median post, not a peak one, and I label it “typical.” Then, separately, I show the best one and label it “best.” Nobody has questioned my numbers since, because I questioned them first. Being the person who volunteers the unflattering number is a real competitive advantage, and it costs nothing.

Block 4. What they can actually buy

What it is: Two or three named packages. Not a menu of parts.

Why it works: A menu makes the coordinator do design work. A package makes them do procurement, which is their actual job. “1 Reel + 2 Stories + usage rights for 30 days” as a named bundle is something they can paste into a form. “Reels: from $X. Stories: from $Y. Usage: negotiable” is a puzzle, and puzzles get postponed.

The honest catch: three packages maximum. I tried five once. The reply asked me which one I recommended, which means I had made them do my job.

What I’d do: Name them plainly. “The Intro,” “The Campaign,” “The Season.” Then one line each on what’s included and who it’s for. Skip clever names. Clever names are for you, not them.

Block 5. The money line (and whether it belongs here at all)

What it is: the one block where I disagree with most of the internet.

Standard advice: always put your rates on your media kit, it filters out time-wasters. My take: it depends entirely on who’s asking, and the media kit doesn’t know who’s asking.

If a brand approached you, they have a budget and they want to know if you fit inside it. Rates help. If you’re pitching cold, rates on the kit anchor the negotiation before they’ve decided they want you, and you will almost always anchor too low, because you’re writing that number on a Tuesday when you feel small.

What I actually do: I keep two versions of the same one page. One with a rates block, one that says “Packages start at [X], full rate card on request.” Inbound gets rates. Outbound gets the range. It takes ninety seconds to maintain and it has saved me from underpricing myself more than once.

Illustrative math, not a promise: say a kit like this helps you convert two extra inbound conversations a year into paid work, and say those sit at $300 each. That’s $600 from a document you built once, on a Saturday, that costs nothing to keep. That’s the whole argument for spending an evening on it. Your numbers might be higher, lower, or slower. Results vary, and many creators take a lot longer than one Saturday.

Block 6. How to say yes in ten seconds

What it is: One email address. One next step. Nothing else.

Why it works: this is the block everyone forgets, and it’s the one that converts. The coordinator has decided they like you. Now make it physically impossible to lose you.

The honest catch: do not list five ways to reach you. Every extra option is a decision, and decisions are where momentum dies. One email. If you use a link hub like Linktree or Beacons, link it once, and make sure the media kit is the first thing on it.

What I’d do: End with a literal instruction. “Email me at [address] with your timeline and I’ll reply within 48 hours.” Then actually reply within 48 hours. That sentence is a promise, and the whole kit is an argument that you keep promises.

That is the whole argument, and it is yours whether you pay me or not. If it changed how you see your kit, that is the post doing its job.

For my first several months I described my page like everyone else does: “It’s a fun account about my two dachshunds!” True, adorable, and completely useless to a brand. Then I hit a formula that copywriters have used for years, and it reorganized how I thought about the entire account:

“I help [WHO] get [RESULT] without [THE ANNOYING PART].”

Three blanks. That’s the whole thing. But filling them honestly forces you to answer the three questions every brand and buyer is actually asking — who is this for, what will it do for them, and what pain does it save them. Here’s the framework at a glance:

Why the blanks work (the “what” and “why”)

WHO is you refusing to be for everyone. “Dog owners” is not a WHO; it’s a phone book. RESULT is the outcome your person actually daydreams about — not the thing you make, the thing they get. WITHOUT is the quiet genius of the formula: it names the obstacle they’ve already tried and hated, so your offer feels like relief instead of one more thing to do. Get those three right and you stop sounding like “a cute dog page” and start sounding like a yes.

This is the same muscle behind picking a lane in the first place — I went deep on that in my post on the most profitable pet niches. The niche is the neighborhood; the offer is the exact door you knock on. 🐾

The payoff: writing an offer people say yes to

Okay — here’s the whole thing, in the order I’d actually do it. Read it once, then write your own version at the bottom. It genuinely takes about fifteen minutes and it will quietly upgrade every pitch, bio, and product you make from here on.

Step 1 — Fill each blank with the right question

Don’t stare at the blanks and hope. Each one has a question that makes it write itself. Here’s the worksheet I use:

WHO — narrow until it’s almost uncomfortable. Not “dog owners.” Which breed or size? New or seasoned? Anxious or confident? The test: could a stranger point to your WHO in a crowded room? “Small-dog owners whose dog loses it on walks” — yes, they could point. “Dog people” — no. My WHO isn’t “dachshund fans,” it’s doxie parents worried about their dog’s back. The narrower it gets, the more the right person feels like you’re reading their mind.

RESULT — the outcome, never your feature. People do not want “a training reel.” They want calmer walks. They don’t want “a treat guide”; they want to stop feeling guilty in the pet-food aisle. Write the thing they’d actually say to a friend. If your RESULT is a noun you made, it’s wrong; if it’s a feeling or a moment they get, it’s right.

WITHOUT — name the pain they’ve already tried and hated. This blank is the one most people skip, and it’s the one that closes. It signals “I know what you’ve suffered through.” Without harsh gear. Without a huge budget. Without decoding a single label. The test: is it the thing they’ve already attempted and quietly given up on? If yes, your offer reads as relief.

That’s the formula, and the three questions that make each blank write itself. The rest is the filling in — the examples, the flop that taught me the fix, and where the sentence actually makes money.

First, the honest truth about the curve

Everyone wants the growth to look like a rocket. Mine looked like a dachshund climbing stairs — slow, a little dramatic, then suddenly faster than you expect. The total is real; the shape below is illustrative, but it’s emotionally accurate:

The part nobody likes to hear: the first stretch is boring on purpose. The accounts that make it aren’t the ones that went viral on day three — they’re the ones that survived the flat part long enough to reach the snowball. I almost quit twice in the flat part. I’m so glad I didn’t.

Here’s the thing I figured out way too late: you’re not trying to “grow an account.” You’re trying to climb five very different stages, and each one needs a different kind of posting. What grows you at Stage 1 will quietly stall you at Stage 3. I think most people get stuck because they keep doing Stage 1 things forever and wonder why the ladder isn’t moving.

The payoff: the whole climb, stage by stage

Okay — here’s everything. Read it once top to bottom, then come back and work the stage you’re actually in. Here’s the ladder we’re climbing:

First — how long this actually took

Before the stages, the question I get more than any other: how long did this take? So here’s the honest answer: about a year — roughly twelve months from zero to ~70k, no rounded-up fairy tale. The four milestones below are the ones that matter for every account; I’ve marked roughly how long each leg took me so you can gut-check your own pace against a real one. Your timing will differ, but the shape almost never does.

0 → 1,000 — “the quiet start” (the slowest leg by far). This was the longest-feeling leg by far, even though the number is small. Almost nobody was watching, and that’s exactly the filter — most people quit right here. What moved the needle wasn’t reach, it was finally narrowing my angle so the few people who found me had a reason to stay.

1,000 → 10,000 — “the grind” (steady and compounding). This is where posting daily and watching my data paid off: two or three formats started consistently out-saving everything else, and repeating them (instead of chasing new ideas) is what finally bent the curve upward. Steady, unglamorous, compounding.

10,000 → ~70,000 — “the snowball” (the fastest stretch). The fastest leg — and the surprise is where it came from: YouTube, now ~43k of my total, which I nearly ignored. Going multi-platform with the same footage is what turned a single audience into three that fed each other.

The pattern I’d tattoo on every beginner: the first leg is slow on purpose, and the later legs are faster than you’d ever believe from inside the flat part. The people who make it aren’t faster climbers — they just don’t quit during “the quiet start.”

Stage 1 — Start small (pick ONE angle)

What it is: the deceptively simple act of choosing a single, clear angle and posting your first things. Why it matters: a confused page can’t grow. When I started, my page was “cute dog, generally” — which is the same as everyone else’s. Nothing happened for weeks, and honestly it deserved nothing.

The flop: my early posts were random — a sunset here, a half-blurry zoomie there, captions like “happy Monday!” There was no reason to follow. The fix that worked: I narrowed to one specific thing — two miniature dachshunds and the very particular comedy of their loaf-shaped daily life. Specific beats broad every single time. “Mini dachshund chaos” is a follow; “dog content” is a scroll.

What I’d actually do today: finish this sentence before you post anything — “My page is about ___, for people who ___.” Then post your intro: a “meet the girls” reel, your name reveal, and three posts that prove the angle. Keep a one-page brand note (name, voice, three content pillars) in Canva so every post stays on-angle. (Results vary — but clarity compounds.)

Stage 2 — Post daily (find what sticks)

What it is: a deliberately high-volume stretch where the goal isn’t growth — it’s data. Why it matters: you do not actually know what your audience wants yet. You think you do. You’re usually wrong (I was). The only way to find your winners is to put a lot of different shots on the table and watch which ones people save and share.

The honest catch: this stage is tiring, and the numbers stay flat for a while. That’s normal — you’re in the boring part of the curve. Watch saves and shares, not likes. Likes are a pat on the head; saves and shares are the algorithm’s love language and the truest signal of what’s working. What I’d actually do: post once a day for ~30 days, vary the format on purpose (funny clip, calm aesthetic, relatable POV, tiny tutorial), and keep a simple note of which three posts outperformed. Don’t batch-burn yourself out — a sustainable cadence you can keep beats a heroic week followed by silence.

That’s the first half of the climb — the two stages almost nobody gets right, and the timeline nobody shows you. Stages 3, 4 and 5 are where it stops being effort and starts being a system.

First — what “faceless” actually means

Faceless does not mean mysterious or cold. It means my dogs are the stars and I stay behind the camera. No doing my hair, no being “on,” no awkward talking-to-the-lens. The page is about the pets — which is what people came for anyway. (Nobody opens my page hoping to see me. They want the loaf.)

The lovely side effect: faceless content is endlessly batchable. A face has moods and bad-hair days. A dachshund has exactly two settings — asleep and chaos — and both are extremely filmable. That’s what makes one session stretch so far.

The core idea: shoot once, slice many

Most of us think in posts: “what do I post today?” That’s the trap — it’s a question you have to answer 365 times a year, usually while tired. I learned to think in sessions instead: “what do I capture this week?” One question, asked once, on the couch, in good light.

Here’s the shape of it. One ~30-minute session becomes a whole shelf of content:

That’s eleven pieces of content from one nap-friendly session. Not because I worked harder — because I stopped throwing away footage. Most creators shoot a 30-second clip, post it once, and delete the rest. I treat every session like leftovers: one roast, a week of dinners.

The four-step loop (this is the whole system)

1. Capture

One session. Phone, decent window light, a pocket of treats. You’re not “making a Reel” — you’re gathering raw material: a few short video clips and a batch of stills. More on my exact shot list below.

2. Sort

Dump it all into one folder. Star the keepers. Be ruthless — a blurry loaf is still blurry. This takes five minutes and saves you from the dreaded “scroll through 200 photos every morning” tax.

3. Slice

This is where one becomes many. One video clip becomes three short videos with different hooks. One photo set becomes a carousel and two meme posts. The footage doesn’t change — the framing does.

4. Schedule

Load it all into a scheduler so it posts itself all week. This is the step that buys back your life. Future-you doesn’t lift a finger; past-you already did the work in one sitting.

The secret to batching is going in with a list, not a vibe. If you “just see what happens,” you get four near-identical clips of the same nap. If you run a shot list, you walk away with eight genuinely different pieces. Here’s mine — every one of these keeps you safely off-camera:

What it is: eight angles that each tell a tiny story. How it scales: each shot can be a still and a few seconds of video, so eight shots is really sixteen-ish raw assets. “Cute” is not a niche

The mistake I made early on — and I see it constantly — is thinking the niche is the animal. “I have a dachshund, so my niche is dachshunds.” That’s a subject, not a business. A profitable niche is the intersection of a specific audience, a problem they spend money to solve, and brands who want to reach exactly those people.

Here’s the lens I use now, and it’s saved me from a dozen shiny-but-broke ideas:

If a niche is missing any one of those three, you don’t have a business — you have a hobby with a nice grid. Worth knowing before you spend six months building.

The big picture: there’s real money here

This isn’t a “the internet is saturated, give up” post. The opposite. U.S. pet spending is projected to push past $157 billion in 2026, and the average dog owner now spends around $1,200 a year on a single dog. The fastest-growing slices are exactly the ones brands are pouring ad budgets into — which is what makes them friendly to creators.

The seven pet niches I’d actually bet on as a creator in 2026

1. Dog health & supplements

What it is: joint, gut, calming, skin-and-coat, dental — the “help my dog feel better” world. Who pays: this is one of the most brand-rich and affiliate-friendly spaces in pets. The pet supplement market is growing at double digits, with dogs taking the lion’s share and online being the fastest channel — which is you. The honest catch: health claims are a legal minefield. You cannot promise a supplement cures anything, and you shouldn’t try. What I’d do this week: pick one problem (say, senior-dog joints), and join an affiliate program so every product mention can earn — Amazon Associates for breadth, or a network like Awin / Impact for direct brand programs.

2. Fresh & premium food

What it is: fresh, gently-cooked, raw-adjacent, and “human-grade” food. Who pays: this is the rocket of the category — the U.S. fresh pet food market is forecast to grow at over 20% a year through 2030, and those brands run aggressive subscription-affiliate and sponsorship programs. The honest catch: it’s competitive and the brands are picky about authenticity — they can smell a creator who’s never actually fed the product. What I’d do this week: only sign up to affiliate the food you genuinely feed, and document the switch honestly (the before/after content performs and stays compliant).

3. New-puppy / new-adopter

What it is: the “I just got a dog and I’m overwhelmed” audience. Who pays: buyer intent here is sky-high — new owners buy everything in their first 60 days. It’s the best affiliate niche in pets, and a perfect fit for a cheap digital product (a puppy checklist, a first-week plan). The honest catch: your audience “graduates” and churns — they’re only new once. What I’d do this week: build one simple “new puppy starter kit” PDF and sell it on Gumroad or Payhip; link it everywhere via Linktree or Beacons.

4. Training & behavior

What it is: teaching people to actually understand and live with their dogs. Who pays: this is the home of digital products — courses, guides, memberships — because people will pay for a solution to a daily frustration. (It’s the lane our own dog school lives in.) The honest catch:you need genuine credibility or a real expert partner; bad training advice does harm. What I’d do this week: pick one narrow, real problem (”loose-leash walking in 14 days”) and outline a mini-course before you film a thing — sell it through a creator storefront like Stan Store.

5. Breed-specific (yes, including doxies)

What it is: going deep on one breed’s quirks, health, and lifestyle. Who pays: smaller audience, but ferociously loyal and high-trust — which converts beautifully on affiliate and digital products. Breed-specific brands (ramps for long backs, harnesses for deep chests) actively look for these creators. The honest catch: you cap your ceiling on size; you trade reach for devotion. What I’d do this week: make the one piece of content only a true breed expert could make (for us: dachshund back-safety), and let it become your pinned calling card.

6. Pet travel & gear

What it is: carriers, car setups, fly-with-your-dog, adventure gear. Who pays: brand budgets are strong and the products are photogenic, so sponsorships and affiliate both work. The honest catch: buyer intent is spikier (seasonal, trip-driven), so income is lumpier. What I’d do this week: apply to a couple of UGC/brand marketplaces so gear brands can find you — The Social Cat, Collabstr, Insense, Afluencer, or Brandbassador. And have your kit ready for when they reply — this is the one-page media kit brands actually read.

7. The underrated one: cats

What it is: I run a dog page, so this is me being fair — the cat niche is repeatedly flagged as underutilized relative to how loyal and convenience-driven cat owners are. Who pays: fewer creators competing, growing brand interest, strong affiliate on litter, food, and enrichment. The honest catch: cats don’t “perform” on cue the way dogs do, so content takes patience. What I’d do this week: if you have a cat, stop treating it as a side character — many creators are sleeping on this, and that’s exactly when a niche is worth entering.

How the money actually stacks

Here’s the part people miss: the point of a good niche isn’t one income stream — it’s that the right niche lets the same piece of content earn four different ways at once. A single “best joint supplements for senior dogs” post can carry affiliate links, a brand collab, a digital guide, and a paid-subscriber tier. That’s the leverage. To make it concrete (and I’ll say it again — these numbers are purely illustrative, there to show the shape, not a promise):

None of those four streams is huge alone. Stacked on the right niche, they start to look like something. On the wrong niche — “cute, low intent, no brands” — you can post brilliant content daily and stack nothing. Same effort, completely different outcome. That’s the whole reason I obsess over this one decision. I broke down how four small streams like these stack into a first $1,000.

One compliance reminder, because I care about your account: any paid, gifted, or affiliate content needs a clear #ad / #sponsored disclosure under FTC rules — every time, not just when you feel like it. It protects you and it builds the trust that makes any of this work. Many creators get this wrong; don’t be one of them.

So which one should you pick?

My honest filter: choose the niche where the overlap of “I’d happily make this content for years” and “buyers and brands are clearly here” is biggest. Passion without the wallet is a hobby. The wallet without passion is a job you’ll quit. The money is in the overlap — and I promise it’s a smaller, more specific spot than you think.

Quick word on why we, the dogs, care so deeply about the word “passive.” Active income means our humans are glued to the laptop. Passive income means they’re down on the floor with us, dispensing treats and honoring the sacred afternoon nap. So we ranked these five by the only metric that matters in this house: how many naps each dollar costs. 😌

Here’s the whole ranking at a glance — then we’ll walk down it, rung by rung:

#5 — Least passive: brand deals

Biggest line, and the least passive — which surprises everyone. A sponsored post is a straight trade: our humans’ time, Nicole’s little sploot, and Nora’s award-winning side-eye, in exchange for a flat fee. The second the pitching and filming stop, the money stops. No nap dividends here.

Here’s the honest shape of it. For a tiny account, a first brand deal *might* be small — say ~$75 plus a box of treats for one Reel. As the audience grows, a Reel-plus-Story package *can* climb into the four figures. But notice what never changes: every single dollar is hours. Filming, re-filming because someone (Nora) blinked, editing, captions, revisions, and the invoice nobody enjoys chasing. It pays well and it builds your name — it’s just never hands-off.

What we’d actually do: keep a simple one-page rate sheet so you’re not pricing on the spot, pitch brands you *already* buy (that pitch writes itself), and never, ever work for “exposure.” We have personally tried to eat exposure. It is not food.

Where to actually find brand deals: make a profile on a creator marketplace and let brands come to you — The Social Cat (gifted + paid, lovely for small accounts), Collabstr, or Brandbassador. Build a tidy media kit in Canva first. (Results vary — having 2–3 profiles just gives brands more ways to sniff you out.)

And one rule we never let our humans break: if it’s paid or gifted, it gets disclosed. The FTC expects a clear, conspicuous disclosure — #ad or “Sponsored by,” up front where a normal person actually sees it, not buried under fifteen hashtags. Brands trust you *more* for it, not less.

#4 — Sort of passive: paid Substack

This very newsletter you’re reading. People assume it’s passive; it mostly isn’t — but it earns the #4 spot because the money is recurring. Subscribers renew quietly in the background (yes, while we nap 🙌), which is a genuinely lovely feeling: you wake up and a little more support arrived without a single new shoot.

The honest part: the engine only runs if our humans keep writing. Stop publishing and churn nibbles the edges — readers gently drift off. So the *income* is passive-ish; the *cadence* is the rent you pay to keep it. Recurring revenue is the magic trick; consistency is the hand doing the trick.

What we’d actually do: take one strong free post, split it into a two-part series, and tuck the genuinely useful half behind the paywall — free readers get real value *and* a clear reason to come inside. And twice-a-week beats daily-then-burnout every time. (A tired human skips our walks, and we simply will not stand for that.)

Now we’re getting cozy. Affiliate income means you recommend things you *genuinely* use — the ramp, the harness, the food we’d trade a paw for — drop a tracked link, and earn a small cut when someone buys. The lovely part: the work is front-loaded. Make the content once, and old posts, pinned links, and video descriptions keep paying long after you’ve moved on to your nap.

Picture a single evergreen “gear we love” page sitting in your bio and every YouTube description. It can quietly earn month after month while you do absolutely *nothing* new — which, by dog standards, is exactly the right amount of nothing.

The honest catch: affiliate income rides on your traffic. So it *feels* passive, but it leans on the not-passive content above it. That’s the quiet secret of “passive” — it almost always sits on top of something active you built first.

What we’d actually do: build one tidy “stuff we use” page, link it everywhere (bio, pinned post, descriptions), and only ever recommend things you’d bark about for free. And tag the links clearly — the disclosure rule from above applies here too.

Where to set it up: start with Amazon Associates (easiest), or a network like Awin or Impact for specific brands, and keep all your links tidy in a link-in-bio like Linktree or Beacons (Beacons even manages affiliate links for you).

Hello. It’s us — Nicole and Nora. We are two miniature dachshunds and, as of today, the editors-in-chief of this newsletter. Our humans handle the typing (they have the thumbs); we handle the opinions (we have… a lot).
